032_01.jpgFashion runs deep through Nihombashi Mitsukoshi. Not only was the whole Mitsukoshi empire originally spawned from a humble kimono dealer where the Nihombashi Main Store stands today, but our theatre was the location of the first-ever fashion show held in Japan back in 1927--and it has been in our DNA ever since. Our halls have seen the ever-shifting tides of fashion as they have changed the face of Tokyo, and we are always excited to play our part in transmitting our edit of the here-and-now of Japanese fashion to each generation.

032_02.jpgThis month sees a new space opening on the second floor of the Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Main Building that exemplifies the mode and mood of the moment, one that encourages fashion fans to mix and match not only different brands but disparate styles, pairing the street-level with flourishes of the runway.
Shoppers can expect to find high-end labels from the runways of Tokyo Fashion Week, such as Taro Horiuchi, paired with cult labels on the rise, like Japanese custom denim designers Tu es mon Tresor, allowing a double dose of both couture and the real Tokyo street scene to be combined into a single ensemble.

As ever, our teams of stylists are on hand to help you navigate the vibrant fusion of trends that is on slate for this spring, a blend that highlights not only the prowess of this new generation of Japanese designers, but also the inventive ways in which they are coordinated to create style that goes beyond the brand.
