Big changes are in store at Nihombashi Mitsukoshi, where, department by department, the Tokyo institution is rolling out a brand-new shopping experience. The transformation has Japanese omotenashi service as its driving force and will make a visit to Nihombashi Mitsukoshi an experience like no other.
October 2018 saw the grand reopening of phase one, while phase two got underway in spring 2019 with a planned reopening set for spring 2020.
As part of the second phase, on August 21st, 2019, the Watch Department was reborn as "The Gallery." The department's first full remodel in 29 years sees its floor space greatly expanded, and its displays completely redesigned.
Remade in the image of a luxurious art museum, The Watch Gallery, located on 6F of the Main Building, treats timepieces as the works of art that they are, and turns the process of choosing the right timepiece into an experience to be enjoyed. On hand for any questions is a team of specialists who work across brands to deliver outstanding support in your quest for the perfect watch.
The larger floor space is filled with an expanded selection of watches, with over 60 brands represented from both domestic and international watchmakers, as well as an enhanced selection of rare and limited-edition timepieces.
Watch connoisseurs seeking out timepieces from small brands and independent watchmakers will be pleased to find a wide assortment available at Cal.BAR, a bar counter-inspired display where watch specialists expertly communicate brand history, culture, and technology while answering your each and every question.
Finally, demonstrations and watch customization events add another layer of excitement to the newly revamped department.
Whether you're looking for a new watch to replace an old one, to celebrate a special occasion, or just because you love watches, Nihombashi Mitsukoshi has the timepiece, the know-how and the atmosphere to fulfill all of your needs and to make your purchase an enjoyable event to remember.
