It is that time of the year again when Nihombashi Mitsukoshi shows our love for adorable cats and the wonderful creative culture they inspire at Cat Festival 2018. The feline festivities span the entirety of the Main Store and Annex from the 2nd to 13th of May, including an art exhibition and special cafe to enjoy in store, and of course plenty of cat-related jewellery, fashion, and food for you to take home.
Making Art of our Feline Friends
Headlining the festival of cats is the second iteration of world-renowned wildlife photographer Mitsuaki Iwago's ode to cats of the world. The much-anticipated "Mitsuaki Iwago's World 'cats' Travelogue Photo Exhibition" finds the Japanese photographer in his element capturing the varied personalities of cats from all around the world across around 170 works. Fans of Mitsuaki Iwago can also enjoy appearances by the man himself and an exclusive gift shop.
Make your Cat a Star!
For the aspiring cat photographers amongst us we are also holding a cat photo contest. Until the end of the festival you can upload your cat photo to Twitter with the hashtag "#三越ネコ"* and your photo may make an appearance online and in-store. Everyone who submits an entry will be eligible for a special gift when they show their tweet to staff at the "Neko・Neko・Neko" counter in store. To see everyone else's entries and to vote for your favourite head to the special site here.
*Copy and paste the hashtag to ensure we don't miss your photo, and please only upload one photo per tweet.
Enjoy exploring the cat-themed line-up in store, and for the perfect souvenir make it a Lucky Cat produced by Kakinuma Ningyo as part of the Tokyo Teshigoto project. The artisanal designs offer a chic contemporary take on a design classic so you can bring a Japanese cat into your life wherever in the world you might be.
